Whilst visiting Blea Tarn in the Langdale valley in Cumbria I noticed this bird standing on a rock at the water's edge. After taking some photos of the lake and surrounding mountains he was still in the same place and so I decided to see if he would allow me nearer without flying away. I slowly crept closer until I could take some decent shots with only a 110mm lens. Not being an ornithologist, it was not until he briefly stretched his wings that I realised he was a Cormorant.
