I attended my local firework display and enjoyed half an hour of exceptional spectacle. To obtain such shots it is of course necessary to use a tripod. I used a wide angle (17mm) lens at f8, ISO 100 and exposures of 2 to 3 seconds. Using a cable release it is best to open the shutter as you see fireworks rising into the sky and then close it once they have exploded.
